Come on now,really?
OK, I subscribe to HF tools so that I can get their coupons for those tools that I don't use that often.I purchase a couple of their angle grinders for 10 ea and I feel good about them. But now I get a couple for their double cut saw
Surely this is not true, but is it possible? Please stop me from making another mistake wasting 49.00,does this thing actually works?
Its shows to cut steel, aluminum, and tomatoes,So any members here has this tool hidden in the shop so that other member who visit can't see it?Its early so this post will roll down by the time the PM (late shift) see's it so don't be embarrasses to admit.
Why do I want it,so that I can I guess rough cut 16ga sheet metal to size.Rough cut angle iron, flat bar etc to a workable size. Here's a video of the cutter in action.Guys thanks again for taking the time to post, looking for ya'll opinion on this----kroll

I've also been wondering about the Double Cut Saw?

I have 3 of the angle grinders that I'm pleased with!

I had a lot of glue to scrape off concrete so bought the multifunction oscillating tool and it worked Great!

A friend of mine has one and he loves it. I think he mostly uses it for wood and plastic laminate (counter-tops). He said it leaves a smooth cut, no splintering. I'll ask him if he used it for sheet metal etc.

The problem with all "portable" saws is holding the work. The bigger the tool, the harder it is to hold the work. Sheet metal is best cut with a snips.

I think I may have missed the first of the thread, but here goes:

I may use a lot of HF tools, but I spotted the scam on this before HF put out the double cut saw. You see, Searz put one out. <g>
I'd pass on the double cut saw if I were you. How can something with two blades cut finer or cleaner than one?

For metal cutting, try a metal cutting saw like the Milwaukee 6370-21 or DeWalt DW872. Wait, even HF put one out, didn't they? Well, the 69702 is one, but they had another one with an enclosed blade which looked like it would work better/safer.

Ideally, a metal cutting saw is spun much, much slower. Look for a used cold saw.

I've tried chop saws and hate the mess they leave all over the product and shop. Recips and jigsaws don't cut straight or clean. Bandsaws are NICE, once you jig 'em up to cut straight.

For cutting anything else, consider a standard carbide-tipped blade in a standard circular saw or plunge saw. My Makita 6001K is a sweet little cutter, leaving a clean cut line on melamine or any wood.

I have one branded dualsaw. It works good it is a bit clumsy, making cuts a little rough (or that could be me) I am thinking of making a bottom foot to help in making longer cuts. When making cuts 3' long in 11guage it did warm up a bit. Also it makes quite a mess with the chips. and they are hot. I use it outside and mostly for sheet metal to big for 4x7 band saw. It is quicker than a cut off wheel in a grinder and fewer sparks. The biggest issue I have seen with HF power tools is they don't seem to last. I got the dualsaw at Menards and I do not think I paid over $.70.00 for it.

The secret of happy buying at Harbor Freight is in reading the reviews. Go online to the HF website and look at the item you are contemplating. Don't just look at how many stars it has. Read all the reviews. Some items have poor reviews because the idiots that bought it did not read the instructions, have no clue how to use it, and quickly say it is a POS. Other items have five star reviews but the owner has never used the tool! Read all the reviews carefully and make your own decision. After learning this, I will not buy anything from HF without reading the reviews. The last thing I bought without reading the reviews was a vise. After I got it home I read the reviews, which were awful. People talked of opening the box and finding a jaw broken off. Others broke off a jaw with a gentle tightening. That was enough for me, and I returned the vise with the box unopened. I also learned my lesson. When I read the reviews, like what I read, and buy it at a good price on sale, I am always a satisfied customer. Do your homework first, Caveat Emptor...

Oh, by the way. Only buy the stock number that you read the review for, not a "similar" item. I have a HF only a couple miles from me, so it is easy for me to work their system. They have a lot of crap, and also some great deals on inexpensive stuff. Your job is to determine the difference.

Well I be dang,Bob took your advise and readed the reviews. All were positive and all would recommended this tool to a friend, but one of the posters said that it really needed a base to help with cutting straight. Thanks all for the ideals, suggestions and thoughts----kroll

I dont have the HF saw, but another one I picked up at Costco for $49. It cuts aluminum very well but as mentioned above work holding is the important part. It is a free hand tool, and can be a challenge to cut anything but a straight line. I have cut up to 1/2" aluminum plate with no effort.
