I'm not going into alot of details but as the title states .
My work bench was cluttered with on-going projects and junk.
So there I go drilling and tapping a part for some thing else and SNAP.. the tap broke the tap wrench falls out of my hand and straight into the control box for my lathe !!! face palm ! :banghead:

this pic is the result

my bench is now clean with no clutter. dam I havent even had dinner yet.

It's one of 3 capacitors from the board of my lathe.

4.7uF 50v 85*C ROA

Another thing you could do is keep the control box closed.

Ought to replace it with 105°c anyway. I checked my stock, but don't have them, or I'd send ya a few.

The other day, I was doing a quick TIG on something. The bench has been messy and cluttered because of a different project going on. I got the part setup and got myself honkered in and just as I was about to nod-down the helmet, I happen to notice my spray bottle of WD-40 about 6" behind from where I was about to torch-up a 5500 degree arc. If my bench wasn't so messy a near mistake like that would have never happened.

The irony is the box was off and disconnected to make a chip cover for the board

I will increase the temp, I have to change all the caps each one is different one is ROA then RNA and S2A
I have an great electronics shop close by.

Part itself: about 40 cents.
Time wasted installing it: about 1/2 hour
Lesson learned: Invaluable

I have a habit to never leave combustables on my benchs they are always put back in the cabinet after use.

Thanks for the replies Another project is created !

I have been trying to get into the habit of cleaning for ten minutes of every hour. So far I have noticed that I have been more productive with a clean shop.
