A little project a couple of years ago. Winters are long here. A Ruger 10/22 Tommy gun with operational drum. Billet alum milled out to fit Ruger inside.014.JPG018.JPG

Dang! That is sweet. Best use of a 10/22 that I've seen so far. Now we are going to need some details on that build. How was the 10/22 converted into a "Tommy gun"? Kit? Plans? Own design? Same for the 100 rd. drum. I'd love to do that for my son's 10/22.

Saw a pic of one on a Cdn gun site. Designed and built by the seat of the pants engineering. Started with a 3" solid round bar. Lots of sittin'n thinkin'. Purchased a 12.5" Dlask sporter bbl. Did the walnut stocks, straight and pistol grip fore end. Barrel shroud was a challenge. The drum is spring wound, a project in itself. Lots of R+D [trial and error] in the drum to get it to function correctly. Unfortunately I didn't document the build as much as I should have.IMG_2303_1.JPGIMG_2240.JPGIMG_2254.JPGIMG_2293.JPG

I just asked my son what he thought about it and after cleaning up the drool spot he left he used the term "awesome!". I'm going to save the pics and details you mentioned so I can maybe give this a go come spring/summer once some of my other projects are out of the way. Don't be surprised if I hit you up for more details on this build.

Thanks much,

-Ron

Very cool the way the drum feeds up into the 10-22's magazine. A lot of work went into this project.

I spend 99% of my time on gun builders sites and this is one of the coolest builds I've seen in a long time! The mag adaptation is great.

Hi MB,
Was interested in what you showed on CGN and loving what you posted here.Carry on and please continue to share.

Thank you,
Eric

That is beautiful. I continue to look at your build and compare it to the Thompson; excellent detail in your work. With the 10-22 side eject, that matches the M1 Thompson; but I like the other details of the 28/28A---including the detachable stock. I dug out some 28 parts and the comparison is amazing. Thanks for sharing

Paul
