Does any one else have one of these old lathes? Mine is a 15x32 gearhead lathe retrofitted
with a 3 horse 3 phase motor. I'm in the process of a clean up and paint project.

It will be nice to see pictures of your lathe.
I have a Springfield mod 280 that I have yet to get to use because it has a 20 hp drive motor that I need to exchange for something smaller for my REMC line. I will see if I can find my pictures as I have things pilled around the lathe.

I just took this work in progress so the lathe has a few parts not included as they are
being painted. Also, getting rid of the junk under the lathe is on my to do list.......
At any rate, I think this is a Springfield "Ideal" Lathe.

Looks like you are doing a great job of cleaning and painting it up. They are built really heavy. What paint and color shade are you using. Do you have a taper attachment?

I'm using boat paint in Rustoleum's Battleship Gray color. Yes, I have the taper attachment
and have used it in the past. The biggest part of the job is the scraping and cleaning of all the parts.
I have been incrementally disassembling and cleaning and painting for about a week. Lots of
snow is supposed to show up today and tomorrow so will gravitate to the shop and get-r-done.
In a few days, I will try to do a " completed painting" reply to this thread.
