Question about small milling machines

I have a PM-25MV which is nearly identical to the G0704. It comes with an installed belt drive(very quiet), brushless motor with digital controller, and a three year warranty. Matt is great to deal with and I have been very happy with the mill. Check out http://www.g0704.com for info on this style of mill.

good luck!

Thanks for noting that the PM has the belt drive upgrade, I'd overlooked that. Might be well worth the extra cost being it is included in the warranty. Upgrading the Grizz might very well void the warranty and the belt drive is a very describable feature. From the pics, it looks like a multi-groove belt. Is that what you have on yours?

Ok DON'T
That's not home made, it's an old model Harbor Freight mill/drill/lathe. I know this because I had the exact same model years ago. The "reach" of the mill head mounted on top of the lathe spindle is a pain, plus the work needs to be lifted to reach for milling making it less solid and the whole thing is not really capable of accuracy ....spindle?? HA . You'll notice the lathe has NO power feed so neither does the mill. The only plus to the thing was a large swing on the lathe, I think 11+"? You could sometimes do disc brake truing cuts. $695 is TWICE what I paid for mine new from HF. $150 absolute tops if you really think you want it.

Hi Mark,

yes it it is a multi groove belt with a high and low speed. It makes for a very quiet machine. See the pictures below.

Thanks for posting those pics. I will seriously consider that model. Can I get it with a DRO?

Matt sells DRO Pros, I got the 3M wight the three year warranty as well. Install is a little tricky on the Y and Z axis. If you decide to go this rout I would be happy to provide details on my install. I had to fabricate some,of my own brackets to get them scales mounted securely and out of the way. I have some pictures posted under my pm-25 thread.
