I picked this up at an estate sale the other day. It said unloved for 2 days. The 3rd day was 2/3-Off Day, so I got it for about $70. Actually, I really wanted the stand (not shown) it was bolted to on which to mount my Atlas shaper (next project).

I had bought a power hacksaw a year or so back, cleaned it up, fiddled with it, but was unimpressed and sold it on to a new home. But once I got home and studied this little beast I saw that it was in very good shape, complete, unmodified, and well-engineered.
So, like always, I started taking it apart and cleaning the parts. More to follow.

BTW, I also scored 8 gallons of Chevron soluble oil for $4.

I have all the parts clean, though some need wire brushing and buffing.
Looking for a color match for that dark green.
Also wondering if the red accents - vise handle, spring tensioner, and hold-open lath - were original. I think they were, as there did not seem to be any green paint under the red.

I want one! Gads I wish I could stumble on finds like that around here... I keep seeming to miss them.

That's a very nice cast base, and the rest looks equally solid. Also, simple design is usually a good sign. Bet it looks great when you get it done. Mike

I have one just like it except factory legs and my motor is under mine. Really nice to set it to cut and walk off and come back when it hits the floor. You mite find it with a search if it is still here.

Theres a manual on the net some where can't remember where right now.

Forgot to tell you it cuts on the forward stroke, And that red star nut is to set the cutting blade tension.
Hope I not out of line here.

I have it all painted now, photo to follow before assembly starts. Maybe tomorrow.

I did find that manual, and you are correct, it cuts on the forward stroke, opposite most others. Of course, the blade that was on it was installed backwards. And this machine was in use in a commercial shop!

I once had opportunity to buy a craftsman power hacksaw at coon dog trials in Kenton Ohio. I declined because it looked like one of those things the farther you carried it the heavier it would get.
still wished I had bought it though it was in cherry shape and looked like it was all there.
