VN Universal sub-head on ebay

When I bought my VN it came with a cabinet full of tooling. One of the goodies is a 50 taper with a drive spline on the end. I know it goes to the VN22 series, not positive what attachment it is for but I am assuming that they would use the same drive for the sub-head and shaper attachments.
on edit: Apparently the drive doesn't have anything to do with how the subhead is mounted to the mill. The 16 used a different subhead but it appears the others used the same one.

Thanks for the pics. It helps me to visualize the fit.
My thanks to bigearl67 I have a 22LU the perfect size for me.
She is a B&S13 and thanks to Toag I've got arbors.
If all she takes is a spline to link it, this is doable.
I may need to make some precision scrap before I'm happy with the result.

Reeltor, were you able to stretch the pin on your DH?

Is there more information you'd like?
Do you have a lathe?
If you want me to turn a copy of mine let me know.
Seriously, just let me know.

Daryl,

Thanks for the offer, I do have a lathe
I just sent email to you about some photos; I'd like to start a separate thread so we don't clutter this one up with a threadjack

Look forward the thread.
Sorry about the jack.

If there is a HM with immediate application of this sub-head I'll back out considering the purchase.

Daryl,

you have a universal table, so you can already do a lot of what the subhead will assist you with. What I just realized is that the subhead doesn't have a 50 taper for tooling, so at least for me, I'd need to get some tooling in addition to the subhead. That's not in my budget

I've got B&S13, and the #2 collet set.
Thus, I think I could make it work.
Regardless, as you've identified I'm not sure how often I'd use it.

Also, what are you looking for in 50taper?
I'm tripping on these arbors...
Not even sure if they are 50taper.
If you have a vague interest I'll measure them, and post them in the appropriate forum.
Be nice to send them to a good home.
Not sure what they are worth.
Probably could buy the sub-head with the proceeds.IMG_3466.JPG

Daryl,
One thing that the universal subhead could do is save a setup. If you are machining something and need a hole drilled or bored into the object along the X axis, you can do it while keeping the setup.
I'll get with you off line about the arbors :encourage:
