Hello from Sunny MI!
Today - We are going to run our first CNC job on our Supermax YMC30 mill w/ Centroid retrofit. Been a long time coming but we are all ready! (I hope LOL). just a small pocket circle in some A-36 and if a few of those go well, we'll place 1045 upon it (w/o annealing first). We do plan to get the Furnance running soon and consider annealing and then hardening post mill work. (comments there welcome as well).

The Question:
I was able to move the Ram In towards the column frame. What I wanted to ask is this: Is this the correct way for increasing the rigidity on small say 10" by 10" squares. Rather than the Ram all the way forward (weight forward of mill) I pulled it in. I see pros and cons to both.

Everything oscillates, has some frequency and makes waves & vibrations - So I think I can see it going either way depending. Yeah, Over noodling.... So... In or Out fella's ??? (and Gals?)

I know it's not all that important... I just keep wondering.

I have my ram set so that the the spindle center line is on the table center line when the Y axis in in the center of it's travel. Never has any problems.
