This came home from the scrapyard today, It didn't look like this a few hours ago, I tore right into it,totally disassembled and cleaned it up and primed it. It now works well, I just need to finish the new handle it needs end caps . It looks like there was a metal name plate as there are four pins left on it ...no maker name anywhere. It weighs 90 lbs and appears to be very well made. Anyone recognize the brand? I didn't measure the opening but it's over 10 inches I think. Head rotates 360 and it has pipe jaws underneath. Base rotates 360. No telling how old it is but it's been around a while .....I hope I didn't pay too much $12.00lock stock and vise 014.JPG

$12/90 lbs = just over 13 cents a pound.
And all that steel is in a very useful shape.
Nope, you didn't pay too much.

good find!

PS: I'd offer you $13 but shipping would probably kill the deal...... :)

Shipping wouldn't be that bad ...It's the handling charge, the priming, cleaning and greasing charge that's exorbitant  The machining on this is very good it is a real nice vise . I have been looking for a good size vise for a long time and was real happy to find this one today .

I have a 5" vise that looks identical. Opens 4 1/2". What's left of the paper label I believe says Multi-Purpose Bench Vise 5" Made in China. No other marking. I bought it at Menards 20-25 yrs ago, think I paid 40-50 dollars for it.

That is a standard type of Asian vise. Early on,it was made somewhere else, but that one is probably Chinese.

Yep, here's mine, bought it new($70 ?) in the mid 80s, a precision vise its not but I've used the crap out of it for 30yrs with no complaints. I like the way the head revolves to any position and the pipe jaws work well.

that's pretty close right down to the round slotted nut on the screw . The only difference I can spot are the way the pipe jaws attach, they have allens like the flat jaws. They smoothed out the castings with some kind of bondo ....It was mostly a sick pale pink with spots of grey . It came off pretty easy. It will likely stay primed and be put into service as is. Beats the hell out of the small ones I'm using .
