Yes they do exist and not just on TV. A buddy called and said he inherited a small building that had a gun shop in it years ago, and some guns and ammo was still there. Yup i want to see it and soon. So today i met him there. He said the roof had leaked and small critters were living inside and everything was rusty or moldy. I still want to see. I was amazed with what i saw. Throwback in history, just like they shut the door and left. Now a few guns were removed before i went in but i liked what i saw. I found ammo that i haven't seen in many years as well as a pile of military turnbolts. Nice ammo boxes with great color and still full. I took home a 1916 98 Mauser action that i needed for my .22-250 conversion. There also was a Jap rifle with the mum stamp still on the receiver. A pile of old air rifles that i knew nothing about but i am sure someone is looking for those models. Stocks some still wrapped in factory paper and some blanks. So anyway here are some pics. Enjoy...Bob

Amazing that nobody in that family had enough interest in it to save it before it got to that point.

I toured an old general store a few years ago, which had closed in 1910 with goods still on the shelves. The Meighan Store is now preserved in that condition. Extremely interesting place to visit.

A good friend of mine inherited a small piece of property about ten yeas ago. There was a small building, about 400 square feet, on the one corner. Apparently it was like a general store at one time. Everything was still on the shelves. The old cash register still had a few bills in it and a handful of change. He and his brother have been restoring the entire building and have not removed anything. They even fund an old metal sign that they had restored and put it up on a pole out front. The place is way out in the country and nobody remembers it being a store or even can recall anyone being in the store.

I have an old Salem Story book from 1956 and it lists the muzzle loader shoot where that sign would have been. Sat June 16th 1956 at Salem Hunting Club 9 am 8 events...Bob

Back in the 60's I went into a very small country store way out in the boonies in N. Carolina. They still had hook button shoes in plain cardboard shoe boxes on the shelf. Why,I don't know. The whole place was no larger than a single car garage. I'd have thought they would have needed the shelf space for things that would sell.
