I bought this old mill in 1968 , B&S size "O" horozional mill with a vertical head drive. The 3 phase motor was replaced when I moved to a mini ranch in 1980 and there was no 3 Ph available, I don't like converters. It's been in storage at my son-in-law's aluminum railing factory for the last 15 years. Just started restoration as you can see in the car-port. Covered with Alu dust and old oil etc. I have some tooling for the vertical head and a horozional arbor but no arbor. The spindle drive is B&S #9 , where can I find an old arbor. I just finished restoration of my 11X36 Logan lathe and starting to set up the shop. I like this old old iron. What do I have? I'm new here. pruitthl

Put a Variable Frequency Drive on that mill and you'll fall in love with it.

B&S taper tooling can be hard to find, but it can still be had. Travers Tool still carries B&S collets and end mill holders, but an arbor might be a bit tougher to find. eBay might become your best friend in your search.

Hi pruitthl,

Welcome to the site. You'll find many experienced folks here that are very generous with there knowledge.

terrywerm is correct about ebay. I have found B&S tooling there, however the shipping costs to me are prohibitive. They should be more reasonable for you.

Any idea the age of your mill?

I have been lucky to pick up a few B&S taper odds and ends. Once I sort them (and offer a few already promised ones to others....) I may be able to help.
Of course some tapers could also be cut on your lathe.......

Hi brino,
Mill age? number stamped on knee 2119, cast in column, patented Jan 3 1903 my guess is it was built sometime before WW-1 It has a brass ID tag on the storage door #S-10620. Go figure! pruitthl

Made to last a lifetime , not like made in America today made to last two years . With no warrantee worth having. I hate the fact that we don't have a good reputation anymore. Let alone we don't make anything to compete with china junk.
