Just curious what specific oils and greases everyone is using? I have an oiling chart in my manual, but no specific products recommended. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I should also mention that I have been told to use Mobil Vactra No. 2 everywhere. I was curious if any other owners of this lathe are using that as well or something else? Thanks!

Vactra No. 2 is way oil...

Sorry for my ignorance. This is my first machine and all i am trying to do is get information as to what I should use to maintain it. I did see that Vactra 2 was indeed way oil when I looked it up to purchase it. Is this what you use in the oiler cups as well as on the ways or do you use something else. My question is to inquire as to what I should be using on my lathe. What do you use? That would help me greatly! Thanks!

I have an Enco 13x40 manufactured about the same time. My manual said to use ISO-32 hydraulic oil (10 weight) in the gear box and apron. Everything else is lubed with Vactra #2 way oil. Hope this helps. Enjoy your new machine!

I'd have to look at the bottle to be sure, but IIRC I got 2 gallons of ISO-32 at Tractor Supply. I used it in the gearbox, the apron and in the supplied oil can. I use it all over the place. As for "way oil" I've been cleaning using ATF (transmission fluid) and then a wipe with a towel and some ISO-32. ATF has detergents in it and is good about pulling fine metal off a surface. I use it to clean cylinder bores, the mill table, etc.
