I have an Rf 30 it came with an enco 4" vise and I see it as inevitable that I will upgrade to a higher quality, tighter tolerance vise. Should I stay with a 4" to keep the weight down, or can I get away with a 6" if I come across a good deal. I'm still short some tooling to do what I'm trying to do so the vise is a little bit in the future. But I do have my eyes open for a good deal of one comes along.

I recently picked up an RF30 which came with a 6" vise, it doesn't seem out of proportion to the machine.

I've used a 6" on my RF31 from day 1 - no serious setbacks or issues other than Y Axis limitations.....

I have a 5" on my RF31. The size seems about right for most of the work I do but there are times when a 4" would be better.

Thank you for the replies. On that note, is the Teco a quality vise, or should I holdout until I can get my hands on a Kurt?
