Went to pick up a few items yesterday, somehow I came home with this......

It's the RF-712N version with 4 speeds, same as the G0561. As everyone knows MSC's prices are usually on the high side but I got a great discount on it. Been wanting a bigger bandsaw for quite sometime now. I'm going to miss my little Enco 4x6 after I sell it, it has served me well.

Looks great Will. I just saw this but seeing as you have had it for a while now, what is your impression of the saw.

I currently have an older Jet 7x12 Taiwanese from mid 90's that I purchased used (and abused) and although it is a great saw now that I have it refurbished, I am looking to get a newer one. I am leaning towards one similar to this that has the miter head vs. the angled vise clamp. I have also been looking at the Baleigh 7x12 mitered head saw that I have seen some pretty decent reviews on.

Thanks.

Mike.

Mike, I'm very happy with the saw. It's handled everything I've thrown at it & I've had zero issues with it. Had my eye on it for a while everytime I saw it on the show room floor. If I had to buy another saw today I'd be happy to purchase the same one.

I thought about getting the gearhead model but I went with this one cause it had 4 speeds instead of 3, plus tge price was great. Yeah speed changes requires some tools to do but it's no big deal for me & I rarely need to change the speed anyway. Still haven't even used the coolant system on it though. Even the stock carbon blade performed very well with no signs of wear. I'm using Lenox bimetal blades now though cause I needed a selection of different range TPI blades for my needs.

All I have done to it was added some feet to the front to prevent it from rolling unexpectedly & added some handles to make belts changes easier. Also removed a couple of the blade safety guards to help speed up blade changes.

The saw needed no adjustments right out the box. Cuts very straight, it even came with a test cut piece in a bag from the factory which I totally did not expect. No big deal but it's nice to know they actually test the saws before distribution.

Turnpro saws are also very nice but they cost a bit more. Might also want to check with Matt. I had talked to him about bandsaws before I picked this up. He mentioned he was getting some in but I never followed up & that was a while ago. Biggest factor for me was I was able to to pick it up locally.

Great. Thanks for the follow-up Will.

I am still looking and saw that Matt had some, I thought I would give him a call before I make a final decision and see if he can help me out. Still not ready to pull the trigger yet as I am still in the process of collecting my funds.:)

I have the Jet version of the same saw and am quite happy with it. A dealer in Seattle had a "scratch and dent" one on sale for $850. I had to drive 3 hrs to get it but shipping was only a tank and a half of gas so not too bad. I was going to get the Enco version on one of their 20% off sales but then this one came up. Much better saw than my old 4x6 model.

Our local MSC is more of a catalog center with little in the way of accessories and supplies for small machines in stock. I got the Turn Pro 7x12 gear head from Enco 2 years ago on a 20% off coupon with free shipping. $836 delivered. It also came with a .018" slice off of 2" round bar test cut. Still cutting great on the original blade after about 200 cuts though I did buy 5 new blades at the same time. I use #78 Kool Mist in it.
