Hi

I went to look at a new Mill today a SMT ZX 50 C but the centre of the quill was in the centre of the table, when the table was out at its maximum, is this right, you cannot get to the back of the vice ????

My little PM25 doesn't have the wipers on the front of the Y saddle, and will crank all the way out to the wheel. (Some object to the table being cantilevered over nothing but the quill never puts a load on it there so I see no problem) If the fuzz were removed in the center of the wiper (where it does no good anyway because there is no contact between the surfaces, your table would come out another several inches.

Hi
If you look at photo 3 the sq block on the wheel fixture will stop it from going past it, there is a stop as well.
I think it is, a incorrect head on that bed, ????

I think I would demand my money back and by one that has better capacity than that.

Good intentions, but just wasn't designed properly.

If you've purchased this mill, I'd just remove the way wipers on th Y axis and try cranking it out. If it won't then move, yes, I'd get back to the salesman.

P.S. I'm envious of your power feeds and huge table.

Looks like you cranked it out as far as it can travel from your photos. I agree with the others someone has built a monster, either the column or head is wrong. Make them correct it or exchange.

Looks like maybe the tilting head was an afterthought and the additional offset from the column wasn’t taken into account in the table design. Plan ahea

Hi
I did not buy it.
I was going to run it on a VFD but it has 3 motor all 400v ac.
Most power feed for the x & y are 110v or 240v, only the main motor 440v, then i would only need 1 VFD.
I think the sq block on the wheel fixture is fitted incorrectly & should be fitted 3/8" downward, but i still think this is not far enough.

It is a nice mill if it was made right.
I will get one, one day.

+1 on what Tom said. It looks like the Y axis way wiper was added as an afterthought....without much thinking. The center part of the wiper could be cut back to allow clearance without affecting the capability of the wiper adversely. Otherwise it is a nice looking mill.
