Feed & Speed App

Countryguy,
I noticed that the link you provided says you can order a speed & Feed chart (slide rule). I just ordered one to try it out.
Thanks

And it is FREE. I think I can swing that.

"FSwiz was way too aggresive for me. That's high end stuff F&S I was told"
countryguy,
I use HSMAdviser (From Divide by Zero) which is the full featured version of FSWizzard, I'd be the first to admit that it is a bit intimidating to the uninitiated at the first which definitely included myself, but will give complete, quick and simple control for overriding speeds, feeds and a host of other considerations for virtually all the various tools, machines and level of machinist experiences. It's not free however but a real value IMO. The full version also includes FSWizzard pro for Android or iOS!. A 30 day full version trial is available.

Another I have is called ME Pro, from Close Tolerance Software, another very useful calculator that I like a lot, it is less sophisticated by some margin but very quick to learn. For the OP, don't believe it will run on non windows tablets, Androids or iOS! though.

There aren't any magic bullets.
As Andre said ,read, study absorb, make notes. Observe results.
Even with charts/apps it still your understanding of your machine capabilities and materials involved that will get the results one desires.
Fun in learning,grins with success.

I was looking for some router bit feed & speed information and ran across this. This an excerpt form the Freud web site, it is applicable to both wood and metal working.

"To achieve the best tool life and part quality these steps should be taken. Start using the recommended chip load and increase feed rate until part quality is unacceptable. Then decrease feed rate until desired part finish is reached. Next decrease RPM's until part finish deteriorates. After this happens increase RPM's until finish is acceptable. This will achieve the largest chipload possible therefore increasing the life of tool and preventing excessive heat."
