Must Have Mill Machine Accessories For A Beginner?

I don't need it at this time, I don't need it at this time, I don't need it at this time...

When I was doing my apprenticeship one of the instructors told us he preferred a milling machine over a lathe. Given all the accessories he could cut threads and make round shafts out of square stock. They had a few dividing heads that could be connected to the horizontal table feed through a gear train. I never saw anyone outside the program do it. Somehow the indexing portion of the head could be disengaged so the drive-train would work.

Just ordered the Vertex HV-8" Rotary Table and the Indexing Plates from Precision Matthews. Matt has the table in stock and the plates will be in next week so I'll just wait till then and pick up everything at one time. Not sure if living near his business is a blessing or a curse... but my credit card company likes him.

Yes. I am done for now. I will continue to write down additional recommendations. All this is new to me so the recommendations is also teaching me what is out there and what they are used for.

I am periodically looking in Craigslist for an affordable used rotary table...

LOL this is simply impossible.

20 gallon Brute tote at Lowes these things are heavy duty. I use them to store lathe chucks, rotary tables, anything heavy and bulky, I hose them down with Boeshield and store them in these. You can lay a 8" lathe chuck on top of the lid that's how strong they are. $25...

Thanks for the info on the tote. I checked and there is a Lowes not too far that has 3 in stock. But another thanks for mentioning the Boeshield because I've been wondering what I could use to keep the machine and tooling from pitting/rusting. If there is anything I shouldn't use it on... or if there is another product I should use for certain items... let me know.

BTW, a friend will be here in an hour to help me move the mill from the garage into the workshop (ex-family room). Can't wait.
