Upper Rack Pinion Gear Sb Lathe 10l

Hi Guys,

In dismantling my SB lathe , I was taking a part the apron. The upper rack pinion gear and shaft
had a taper pin in it. I hit it from the wrong direction, large end and (you got it!) it jammed in BUT GOOD.
I was finally able to separate the shaft from the rack pinion gear but the shaft has the taper pin lodged in it.
I tried drilling it out heating it to no avail. Grizzly had the shaft which I ordered, the upper rack pinion gear
has now an enlarged hole in the hub where the taper pin goes in so Does anyone have one?


Upper rack pinion gear (part #AS76R1) this part # is from the SB parts list catalogue CE3458.
Also where would I find a good source for taper pins?

Thank you, so much, I have taken such pain in making the lathe as original and "perfect" as it can be for one
that's 70 yrs old. It took me 7 months to find it, and been working on it for well over 6 months. I'm assuming the upper
rack pinion gear will fit my apron. It's a model 8187-A, manufactured approx. 1946. If you also have the SHAFT(part#PT204R1)
that goes through the rack pinion gear I would prefer it from you, since it came off the same machine(I would cancel the order from
SB lathe parts[@Grizzly]) and would pay you generously for the parts + shipping !

I received the parts today , unfortunately the parts were incorrect. I'm inclosing a parts list(pic) from the
SB lathe Parts catalogue, the ones you sent me were parts # 23(Cross feed gear), 22(hub), 21(pin) and part #42(gear shaft).
The ones that I needed were parts # 20(upper rack pinion gear), and part # 32(shaft) + taper pin.If you have these latter parts
it would be most helpful. I probably wasn't clear in my description, sorry for that. I'm will send the parts back to you and will
inclose $10 bill for your shipping costs .
If you indeed have these parts I would be most grateful if you could send them out again.

Kerry, I've got the parts book in front of me and I just misread it. No luck on the other parts, even my spare apron for my lathe is missing that shaft and gear. Do not send any money, I'll be sending you a check for the return. The error was mine. I won't be to the warehouse until the middle of Dec., I'll look some more then, but I think that was the last Hvy 10 parts stash. Sorry again about the mix-up.--David

OK Thank you , I'll put in the mail most likely tomorrow. SB Lathe co is sending out the shaft, all I need is
the rack pinion gear(otherwise I'll use the old gear and redrill another hole for the taper pin).
