fire it up today to weld a simple bracket..low power dc...got as far as 3/4 inch and it blows the breaker..

usually i have to really be pushing hard ac to pop the breaker...

fire it up and all i get is the high freq ...took it apart nothing looks smoked

tried again...it will fire up but i have to scratch start while the high freq is going/pedal pushed

i got my brackets welded but now i have to fix the welder
i'm guessing it is the main board again....
i had it break before where it just went to dialed/full power

coil has power..contact works on stick mode fine

In the first photo, looks like some scorching under the wires attached to the two lugs on top of the silver plates. Maybe clean the connections and try it again.

think i figured out the problem though i don't ever remember having a problem like this with a loose tungsten ...the threads were buggered up and i didn't notice that it wasn't fully tightening down on the tungsten..

the high freq was coming through but not the dc...thats my story and i'm sticking to it...

fyi ....3/8" 32 tpi tap
