Adopted A Van Norman #12

I like the original paint.
She earned those scars!
In antique furniture it's called patina and is worth alot more $.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it! When I see it like this it always looks so small. Adding the ram, motor and table beefs it up a bit. But when you try to move any of the sub-assembly’s, it definitely not a lightweight.

Today I got to cleaning the head of my 12. I've been following this thread: How To Proceed With #12 Head Cleaning, July 2015. I have the top bearing cleaned and now the problem.

Cal wrote in that thread:
"Part 12-754 is held on by a set screw. Remove it so that you can flush the bearings out."

What is the way to get this part out? Took out the set screw and nothing seems to move and I don't see a safe way to grab or pry on it.
Thanks
John

Hey John,

What is the diameter of your hand wheels for the cross feed and vertical acme threads?

Just got my VN home and it's missing the handwheels (replaced by cranks st some point).

Thanks
Glenn
