The Trading Store ?

It's MT4, not MT3.
Sorry.
I was hoping to move a few items!

I contacted those on Ebay with D1-6 mounts looking for a trade today . Waiting on responses from them . I just hate to have to sell this stuff on the Bay , lose 20% then rebuy it . I'm going to wait till the weather breaks before I go and do that .

Willing to trade for : Albrecht mt2/jt 2, 6 or 33.
Spellman transfer puches, Heimann transfer screws m6-m10.

Well, I know I need to sort things better, but these pics show most of what I have that I think I do not need........what I do need is good cutters for turning OD, boring bar cutters for ID, stuff I can use with my old lantern post setup.

Olddaddy,
I'm flush with boring bars! Was thinking of taking some pics and posting.
Both square insert and lots of Everede, as well as some very large diameter bars.
What do you mean by "good cutters for turning OD"?
You mean Armstrong left/right/straight tool holders? If so what size?

Well, as you all may have already guessed, I really don't know much about what I'm doing. I am just doing and guessing mostly, but getting some things done. The biggest thing I need to do is open up the bore of a .625" thick piece of dom tube from 1.25" to 1.80". I am doing that presently with the setup pictured below. When I bought my lathe it came with a few boxes of tooling, it appears I have a variety of the Atlas type holders, some boring bars, and various square inserts. It is likely I have what I need, if I only knew what I was looking at......At the outset I just put tools into the lantern post and tried them out to see what they did. When I found one that worked I used it and figured when it stopped working I would dig through the box looking for another. I'd like to have a few pieces that I can rely on to do the counterbore, turn down OD etc. What I likely need is more knowledge than parts. However, I'm open to advice and learning from the experience here as well as trading off anything I have that I cannot use for something I can use.

This weekend I started sorting out unloved tooling.
Now I've got 4 piles instead of several dozen scattered locations.
Lots of various tapers B&S an MT3 and MT2.
I don't see how I will ever use all this.
My plan was to post some pics in the coming days and weeks and solicit offers.
Meanwhile I'd start researching and cataloging descriptions and presumed values preperatory to posting on eBay.

mmcmdl, what kind of MT3 stuff are you looking for?

B&S? what No.?

New to the forum...........Old to the trade .

So , after 35 years of machining I find myself in my regular predicament . I have EVERYTHING that I can't use and NOTHING that I can ! There has to be 1000's of machinists and tool owners out there in the same boat .

I encourage all to join in and make this a regular meeting place ( and I hope I am posting this in the correct thread ) for swapping " junk for junk " !

Over these past years my machines have ranged Hardinges to my big'un Leblonde 20"x 96" and more Bridgeports that I can count . I have scaled back on equipment but never shed my tooling from these machines . My only remaining lathe is a 16"x70" , my mill a Lagun FTV2 which I relocated into my climate controlled garage ( cold in the winter , hot as hell in the summer ).

I'll start ....What I need .............. D1-6 lathe chucks . 4 jaw , Jacobs flex collett closer , faceplate , MT3 tooling etc .

What I have to trade ................EVERYTHING ! I have a L00 and L0 Jacobs collett collett closer , D1-8 Hardinge 22-J collett closer with colletts , Aloris tooling ,grinding tooling , 5C and R8 tooling , Vidmar cabinets full of various insert tooling . I can't list everything .

I'm looking to trade , swap , barter for what I need for want you want or need . No $$$$$$ needs to pass hands but if trades work out , donations to the website would be great .
