Easiest Way To Lift A Lathe

A lot of times at HF you can get them on sale for $149, then with 20% off coupon $119
That's what I got mine for and it gets used for a lot of things.
Lifting Riding mowers, dirt bikes and other heavy stuff out of pickup bed.

Our fleet mechanic at work will be bringing his personal heavy duty engine hoist for me to use. I figured that would be the easiest (and cheapest) way for me. But you guys have provided plenty of options. Thank you!

I raised mine with 2x4 & 4x4 cribbing & hydraulic jack. Rentals have been suggested, not sure about this but I think there are some fork lifts that work in low over head. Light just went on! If you use the pallet jack it will keep the load level and possibly more stable. In this area there are a few places you can get scrap pallets so if space permits they might work by cribbing on the pallet jack then inserting pallets (each layer at 90` to the previous) under the ends until you get to your height.
Be careful and have a good day

I bought one of the HF engine hoists several years ago.
I've used it for several lifting tasks including moving the G0602 from its shipping pallet to the work bench.

Back in my younger years and still green behind my ears. We had some scaffolding we used in the building of the two story house our family had. We used two sections stacked on top of each other that made 12 foot high. On top of that, were two 2 x 10's and two 2 x 8's on edge and c-clamped together. Hanging off of that was a old Budget 1 ton chain hoist. That's what we used to unload the machines off the trailer or pick up with. We set the machines on a couple of 2 x 8's and skidded them into the garage with a come a long. That 1 ton Budget hoist lifted 2 tons a time or two over the years.

made one of these many years ago out of 2x2 1/4 wall ..receiver tube on top for easy disassembly and storage
