Question On Shipping Inexpensive Items ?

How is one able to ship an item ( say $5 or so ) without having to go with the USPS flat rate box at $6.80 ? That kind of shipping charge really puts a damper on re-personing such small objects .

Any ideas or info on this subject greatly appreciated . TIA .
If you open an online account with USPS, and it is easy to do, the price of a small flat rate box is $5.25. If you have an account they will also pick up the package at your mailbox or front porch. IMHO, they are kicking butt on Fedex and UPS. Downside, the USPS seems to be turning into a subsidiary of Amazon.

USPS is 100% private funded...but congress screws them over...won't let them have planes..tells them what to drive,,,rips off their retirement $...80 million...then wants them to fund retirement into the next century... they even mandate the "allowable" temperature of a facility....and at the same time all these political bass turds never pay for the crap they mail...
As a Federal agency (the antithesis of "private") the USPS is both subsidized (they pay no taxes of any kind and have a statutory monopoly on first class mail) *and* screwed over by political meddling (though not nearly as much as in the days of the Postmaster General). BTW franking is not free. The USPS is compensated for it out of funds appropriated for the purpose.

The USPS has the absolute worst website on the web. I'm almost average intelligence and I cannot go to their site and find out how much it will cost to mail something. They must have a million different shipping rates. I cannot understand why their shipping has to be so complicated. Rant over.

I just did it without any trouble. The site is bad, but most are. I don't see that theirs is worse than average.

1/2 MILLION EMPLOYEES PAY PLENTY OF TAXES.....FIRST CLASS ISN'T A MONOPOLY...CONGRESS FORCES THEM TO DELIVER TO EVERYONE...FEDX AND UPS DOESN'T WANT TO DO IT.. ..THEY HAVE USPS DELIVER IF FOR THEM IN EXCHANGE FOR AIR TIME ON THEIR PLANES

Getting back to the original question, sell it, put it in the box, and ship it. Apologize if you feel the need (but I wouldn't.)

Everybody knows what it costs to mail or ship something, plus your time to pack it and shlep it to the PO, and stand in line. You're probably losing money on the deal. Don't feel bad about charging for shipping.
