I was given 3 grinding wheels. I am not sure what compound they are made of. Is there an easy way to id them?
I might put them on my 8" bench grinder. They are 1" wide and not going to fit my 6" grinder. It has very badly out of ballance wheels on it.

Do you have pics or any additional data?
Short of starting them up and watching them grind, the best option might be to compare the grain structure to other wheels?
Of greater consideration is are they cracked?
It'd doesn't take much of a crack for a wheel to fly apart?
If I'm buying a wheel new I "ring" it to help identify if it is cracked.
I don't know how accurate this test is.
But, if it goes "thunk" and I own it already, it gets immediately broken up.

This is the most readable side of the 3 wheels.

The larger 2 i believe are both 36 grit.
Edit. I need to make bushings to mount them on grinder before any spark test. Will need to true them up to. I don't think I have ever used a green wheel before. Only used a fine factory wheel on the 6"er. I have more grinding wheels someplace.
