Do any of you folks use or have experience with a Cold Air Coolant System?

I have a vortex cold air gun. They are best suited for surface grinders. It does not take the place of cutting fluid or oil. Also they use a lot of air You need a good size compressor.

I have a Kool-Mist Portamist that I move between my lathe and mill. It makes a huge difference in tool life. I run it with a 2 cylinder airless compressor. It is heftier than a little pancake, but does not have enough to run even a small spray gun. The compressor cycles frequently, but does keep up. I have not had a rust problem with the Kool-Mist coolant, but it will stain if left overnight. It works best if used frequently, and with the Kool-Mist coolant. I made the mistake of getting some Enco coolant and have been having trouble with the mister ever since.

I'm running a Chilly Bits airgun on my Bridgeport. It is an improvement, but as mentioned it does use a lot of air and I'm thinking a misting system will probably work better. Mike

Baithog, not trying to be smart but I have never laid eyes on an airless compressor, might have come close once when mine broke a rod but there was still air in the tank. :confused 3:

Ha, ha,ha,ha -- I guess I forgot to inflate my head for lunch. Oil less, he meant, oil less.

I'm thinking he meant oil-less. Mike

Amazing what looks good when you type it! now back to the topic at hand, I have been curios about air cooling and have learned a bit about it. Seems to not be the answer for me

That would be called something like a water/hydraulic/whatever pump...
