Need Advice To Complete A Collet Drawbar

When I built my first one, I used this as my reference: http://kinzers.com/don/MachineTools/collet_closer/
I ended up changing out the 6" aluminum hand wheel to one that was 3" and use a spanner wrench to tighten/loosen (same one I use to remove my nose protector). I found the hand wheel got slippery in a machine shop environment, which makes it very near impossible to get a grip and I did not like the large mass rotating.

The 5" cherry wheel seems fine. Plenty of gripping surface. Dawned on me, I'll need to confirm that the cone retaining set screw is not bottoming on the edge of the groove when the collet is tightened. The finished piece, and the spider.
