I just brought one home and was wondering if anyone here has the manual for this model. Especially the dust collecting cabinet. I found the standard manual on Keith Rucker's site but nothing on the deluxe model.

I see this post is kinda old but I'll reply anyway. I too just bought a 612 deluxe, having never used or owned a surface grinder I'm slowly figuring stuff out. The one thing I'd like help with though is the oilier system. Does yours have one? I wonder if an oiler is what makes it the deluxe model. I've seed different varieties of oilers on other B/S grinders but no info online; mine is cylindrical in shape with a glass or plastic face where you can see the oil level behind it. It's stamped 220v on the back at top, it has what looks like a metering dial on the top and maybe a drain on the underside. It has a power cord going to it so I think it's automatic. Does it run by itself continuously when on or what? Any help would be great. How do you like yours NC? Thanks

Mine has a Bijur oiler. Its square with a pump knob on top to give the ways a shot of oil by hand. Not sure about yours. You might want to post your question in the general forum and see if anybody is familiar with it. I was under the impression that the dust collection cabinet underneath the grinder is what makes it a deluxe.

Good idea, I'll post it in the general forum. Mine doesn't have the dust collector. So I guess your oiler is strictly manual no power going to it? Thanks

I just bought a 612 deluxe. It has the automatic oiler and no signs of ever having had the dust collector attachment. Pretty dirty, but didn't seem like much wear. Worst is the cross screw with .020 backlash in center.

When I get it cleaned up I have to get a VFD to power it up.

Anyone have suggestions for a 220 single to 220 3 phase, one that will work with the OEM on off drum switch?

I bought a LAPOND VFD Drive VFD Inverter Professional Variable Frequency Drive 1.5KW 2HP 220V 7A for Spindle Motor Speed Control(VFD-1.5KW) from Amazon, it's working fine. My drum switch was bad so I abandoned it all together rather than replace or repair it. I'm using the VFD itself to start and stop the spindle. You gotta use it anyway to initiate the rpm so why use the drum switch? Of course this means to power the oil pump which is 220v single phase, I had to independitly wire it NOT thru the VFD but rather on the 220v input side with it's own switch and pilot light (so I wouldn't leave it on all the time). I am puzzled by the definintion of the "Deluxe" model. From what I've seen I thought it meant the unit has an automatic oil system but then there's the built in vac system too on some of them???

has a few of his early videos that address exactly what you two are asking about on the same model grinder. Let's see if I can find them.......... Here ya' go!
Stan is a millwright, and knows machines well, all around sharp guy, but these are videos of him learning about his first surface grinder and getting it ready for service. He is now REALLY good with his surface grinders, so you might want to watch some of Stan's later videos as well...

thanks for the videos. My grinder also came without the front wheel guard cover, so I was planning to make one and great to see how Stan did that. Stans came out way better than mine likely will (without a roll bender), but something to aspire to.
