Hey fellow Machinists! I am going over my 920 Logan and i found that turning the compound rest dial in the counter clockwise direction, it moves 3/8" out before it begins to move. Is there an adjustment to make or do i need a new screw?

I just did my 9" south bend yesterday, not a bad job took 3 hrs

Try a new nut first, generally a lot cheaper to replace, usually made of brassy material so designed to wear faster than the screw. Check eBay.

Check the nuts on the end of the screw. The ones before and after the handle. You adjust them too take up the slop in the screw. It could have a worn nut but that sounds like a lot for a compound screw.
