I saved a brown and sharp # 0 Mill from the scrappers a couple of years ago. Every thing worked except the power feed. Broken mount for the feed shaft , repaired.
Put power to it and found out the vise was totally screwed. After probably 15 hrs it’s done. The sliding jaw was stripped out and the screw was really messed up . I needed a 1 inch by 2 1/2 internal threaded sleeve. I have a very good lathe but really didn’t,t want to try threading that deep.
Being me I took 4 1 inch nuts turned them round put them on a threaded mandrel. And welded them together . Worked great. Here’s some pics if you can see it

You where everything is on the bench right. It's organized if you know what's there . Mess isn't unorganized. It's just not pretty to some people. Plus it will deter thievery if they only see ,,, junk,,, but not.

I’m a little slow at times. When I read t. Bredehoft’s comment I thought Huh’ some on else has a bench made from a piece of bowling alley floor.
Then the light bulb came on!! I laughed till I almost cried. Yep I know where every thing is.
No one got the whole picture, so here it is

How'd you get a picture of your vice on my work bench?
That's funny! I looked at the pic and thought...here's a guy that has as much crap sitting on his bench as I do. I always have to put stuff away before I feel comfortable taking a pic that I'm going to post.
