I have to remove a couple of nailed down metal roof panels next week to repair leaks. Now if you've ever tried to remove those ring shank sealing nails without damaging the metal you know why I made this. Every other type of nail remover depends on leverage and if you use them on the highs of metal roofing/siding they will damage it. This tool will pull the nails in one or two slams of the weight and not damage the panel.

Nice Solution Don
Now Im thinking I should make a copy of that   :whistle:

i would notch the cutter..keep you from snipping then off..this would also let the grips close more

but thats just me

I originally thought I was going to need to notch the blades but the block I made keeps them from closing enough to snip off the nail head. The handles do close up more in use than the picture shows. I only have two hands so I was holding the camera with one and the tool with the other so I couldn't squeeze the handles.

I am to old and fat to be on a roof anymore or I would have to make (copy) this tool.

Nice looking tool

Thats thinking outside the box..... the box being your shop! Nice job, I have a slide hammer or 2 on the to do list. I like the grooves you turned into your handle.

That's one cool tool. I'm just waiting until the secret Chinese Internet spies see this tool & send the pictures back to the factory.
I'm guessing in about a week you'll be able to find it in any Walmart ,Lowes and Home Depot.
Now if the right marketing people get a hold of it you'll soon see it in the big chain drug stores in the teeth & gum care aisle as a DYI tooth extraction tool.
All kidding a side, you did good & I'm sure it will get copied a lot.

As I was walking by the shop today I thought "You know you're getting a little old to be thinking about working up on a roof". Then I remembered that my great-granfather fell off a roof at 95 years old.

I showed it to a guy that works on metal roofs for a living and he said I should patent it. I've been thru the patent process before and it's a pain in the rear. The last patent I got paid about the same as it cost and it was copied by the Chinese in less than 6 months.

patents are useless...first thing the patent office does is publish it...then they try to tell you you applied for the wrong thing even though that is what they told you in the first place...then they hit you up for more money..unless you have billions of $ and good lawyers to fight forget it
