Show us your big old classic Trucks

Fun post. Being a die-hard Ford guy I'm loving your trip back in time, and lusting over those ohhh so cool Super Duty hood scoops. In 1966 I had my first paying job (Worked for my dad from the time I was ten for considerations provided, I.E>, a roof over your head, and food in your belly ( which I have no argument with in hindsight ) :). It was at Johnny's DX In Muskego Wisc. They had a tandem tractor with a 534 gas V-8, just music to the ears. It was used in conjunction with a tanker trailer to haul fuel for there facility. It was a wash your windows, check your oil Mam or Sir, wonderful time of my life (Seemed to enjoy the mam's a great deal more at that age as I recall). Just to be around mechanical things with an inquiring mind. Twas like heaven. Not to be totally branded, I must admit, as a young man to being impressed by the " Screaming Me-me's " as my Dad called them, super charged 2 stroke, 4 cyl (God forgive me) GM diesels in those unforgettable early cab-overs of the era (all brands), burning black out the stack like a coal fired locomotive. I feel blessed to have lived in a time that has experienced so much change in such a relatively short period of time, and fostered so much amazing technological innovation . Mike

Current status after LOTS of sheetmetal fab to make parts work, but under a car tent for now. At least it runs and better yet, moves under it's OWN power.

If interested in the whole build thread, 28 pages long and Lots of pictures can check it out here.

I've got a 1956 Chevy 3/4 ton pick up sitting in my gay-raj, figuring how far to tear down. I currently have the rear end out and cleaning 60 years of crapola that encrusts it before I put in new seals and packings. It was last registered mid 90's in South Dakota, made in Wisconsin and currently residing in CT.

For some reason I can't upload pics from my tablet without crashing my internet connection. I have to make some time to load them onto a sharing site.

I posted the pic above and then couldn't get any text in. That's our 66 F250 camper special that's currently undergoing a frame off build. This one is my 67 highboy aka The Beast, it is also getting a complete makeover, 500+ hp/tq, 5 speed overdrive, etc.. Mike

Mike I grew up in the same era as you. Your post brings back great memories, well written. Those are a couple of nice looking trucks, even if they are Fords! lol

What a beautiful view from your shop, some nice country around there.

My Dad had a 49, it was really beat, but it got us where we needed to go and reclaimed bulk oil was cheap. Those 235's were great motors and a joy to work on compared to the modern stuff. Love your Knuckle, I started out on a 46 FL. Mike

Here's my old Chevy, it runs as smooth as a sewing machine.
