My Second Unimat Db200

Wow. Very cool. Wish I had friends like that. What kind of projects are you planning?

I've had two of them and the second one which was the nicer of the two was stolen from my father's shed.

They are great tools to learn on.

I'm not sure yet. I'm thinking of contacting the guy I sold my first to, to see if he still wants it.

Publicize the serial number of the stolen one.

I doubt it was recorded anywhere.

I see you're a PE. Ignore anything I say, my engineering credentials are degrees in Chemistry and Corporate Finance and just shy of 20 years working with job titles of "Engineer".

Because I had a late start after failing college once, I'm proud of my PE and engineering education, but one of the best electronic engineers I ever worked with had no degrees; he learned first as a radio technician in the U.S. Navy, followed by many years running his own businesses. Another engineer, who was probably the smartest person I worked with had a PE, but no engineering degree. His degrees, including a Ph.D., were in physics. I won't ignore or discount anything you say. Nor should you give added credence to anything I say.

Thanks! I had one that I bought myself new in the 70s and sold in about 95 or so. I had the grinding wheels, the steady rest, and a few lesser accessories. I thought because I had a 6" Atlas I didn't need it anymore, but I never stopped missing it. It's what I learned to machine on. Later, I got to work on a larger South Bend. There's a big difference, but there's still a place in my heart for the Unimat.
