I might be on the wrong forum if so I apologize, I don't do this very often and on this forum never so far.
my problem is I can't figure out the wiring on my VFD that allows me to hookup the original forward stop reverse stop lever on my jet lathe, anybody got a wiring diagram that shows how to do this? The book doesn't help at all and I haven't been able to find anything online.

My VFD is an Hitachi, but when I went online the manual for the Teco L510 seems to have all sorts of wiring diagrams.
Figure 3-7 on Page 3-9 seems to show the whole schematic for external switching and control. I sure wish that my manual
was as clear as this one is. Terminals S1 and S2 seem to be the connections that you desire for forward stop reverse stop
switches.

What motor are you using on your lathe? 220 3 phase?

Are you looking for a wiring diagram of the original switch on the lathe so you can determine how to incorporate it into the controls for the VFD? If so, which model of Jet 1340 do you have?

hello Chuck
you're right I've looked at all them drawings unfortunately the wiring is for momentary contact switches not constantly on, and the way my manual switch works on my lathe it's constantly on when it's in forward then it's constantly on when it's in stop and then it's constantly on when it is and reverse and apparently this won't work with the my VFD, unless I'm missing something somewhere I can find anything in my manual or online.
I understand there is a way doing it using latching relays I was just hoping to find something less complicated and expensive, also I'm running out of room in the box that I mounting everything in.
Yes I've got a brand-new 2 hp three phase 1740 RPM motor mounted on the lathe now considerably smaller than the original jet 2 hp single phase also it is a fractional shaft instead of a metric so I had to get the correct pulley to do that since the old one was metric,

hello Steve
no I've got that schematic what the problem is that the programming on my VFD is for momentary contact switches, and my switches on my lathe are either naturally open or naturally closed continuous contact, there doesn't seem to be any allowances in the programming for this.
I'm going to hook it up like it's momentary contact switches and see if it works anyway, I haven't done that yet but looks like that's going to be my next experiment.

Look at page 4-33, two wire control. This will work with your lathe switch.

I think you are talking about 3 wire control with regard to momentary switches, the default is 2 wire controlled which uses maintained switches (page 4-34). The issue with 2 wire controlled using maintained switches, is that if there is a power outage or you accidentally leave lever in the forward/reverse position, the machine will restart which presents a safety issue. Using the VFD, you usually would gut the old control board, since it would not be used giving you space for other options. On a lathe, there is usually a power relay that latches either with a button or when the spindle direction switch is in the stop position, this prevents a restart. An E-Stop would normally interrupt the connection to the COM input terminal (or the power relay), the danger with maintained switches, is that the late would restart when the E-Stop is reset if a power relay is not used. Killing the power to the VFD with the E-Stop or via a contactor is not recommended in this setting, and a simple power reset relay is more optimal.

The Teco does have a feature which prevents auto restart, on page 4-58 : 07 - 00 would be set to 【0】: Momentary Power Loss and Restart disable. You could try this with 2 wire control and see if that works. One of the inputs can be reprogrammed to JOG if needed. I have some schematics for relay based controls, but it is a bit more complicated.

What is the specific Jet model you have and what functions do you want?

Hello Jim
which manual are you looking in, the one that came with my VFD does not have page 4 – 33 it only goes to four – 20, this one online?
