Just found the manual for the ENCO 111-1450 via getting it from some one who has a 111-1445 model. ENCO list the manuals as the same for both models.

I can only say I was MASSIVELY disappointed, the chinglish manual is pathetic.

If any one needs the ENCO 111-1450 or the 111-1445 manual Click here.

But I found a alternative manual from a lathe listed as a Grizzly G0749 - 16" x 40" Heavy Duty Lathe.

This griz lathe is a currant model being sold on the griz website so if you would like to download the much nicer manual, follow the link, the manual can be downloaded right from the griz listing page.

So I was wondering, is my ENCO 111-1450 lathe a de-rated 14x40 and might really be a 16x40 so the new griz really is almost the exact same lathe?

So I just went out and measured the swing on my ENCO 111-1450 listed as a 14x40. See photos below.

A photo of a ENCO 111-1450 - not mine, mine don't look this good.

A photo of my ENCO 111-1450 - looks like it will swing 16" and is a 16x40 listed as a 14x40 by ENCO.

Looks like griz will be a source for a much better manual and new parts.

These 2 lathes are about 17 yrs apart, photo I posted is a 1999 model and mine is a 2003, there are certainly some changes but the ENCO and Griz lathes still look very much the same in many areas.

I'll be contacting MSC and griz for parts for mine, I'm betting griz will have them and for a lot less $$.

Note: the parts manual griz has looks almost exactly the same as the ENCO parts manual so griz did not bother upgrading that, the griz operation manual has the parts list included at the end so you don't really need to download both.

Link to photos and story about me recovering my ENCO 111-1450 lathe from a field.

Do not think for a minute that because Chinese lathes look the same then the parts will be interchangeable. They are not all made in the same factory, a lot of parts are sourced from small vendor shops, some will be finished to fit, and so on. They are loosely built to the same design. The parts will look the same at arms length, but when you go to put them on, oops, doesn't fit. Sometimes you get lucky, but certainly not always. In fact, if you order a part for a Grizzly lathe from Grizzly by model and part number, it may well not fit. You might be able to do some modifying to make it work, or not. Grizzly will give you your money back, then you are on your own, days, weeks, or months later. I am not picking on Grizzly here, that is just how it works with Chinese lathes. It is a good thing we are machinists and can make our own parts or modify or repair others when necessary...

So far the only thing I know I'll need is the red emergency switch on the control panel. Hoping that is the same.

I have heard others say the same thing so as far as I am concerned, I'm just hoping if I need something, it "might" work. I'm just using the manual as general knowledge, but it sure is a lot nicer to read then the chinglish ENCO manual.

The switch does not usually need to be a machine specific part. Any switch with the correct function and wiring schematic, that will fit in the machine and has a red button will do the job.
