CRIKEY!!!!Coral snake!

Some idiot many years ago thought it would be a good idea to import the Bufo marinus - cane toad in an attempt to control sugar cane beetles.
It didnt work, they didnt eat the beetles and killed so much local wildlife that now they are in epidemic proportions from the NT down to NSW.
They do have one use - perfecting your golf swing.

I understand the Cain toad is responsible for killing (poisoning) many of the fresh water crocks as well. Those things get huge. When I was a kid growing up in Hawaii, I used to catch many of those. I once had a 1 gallon pickle jar full of them and dropped the jar on the kitchen floor with toads scrambling all different directions. Man-o-man was my mom ******.

Thats a beautiful Python?

Firestopper, I don't know what type of snake it is (white one with pumpkin markings above). Just a picture I found on the 'net while looking for pictures of the coral snake.
Possibly a "Photoshop Timber Twister"! for all I know.

Glad all I have to worry about is an old cat which I took in He also can bite when he gets p****d off , Generally he is happy go lucky in most cases One thing about this forum, we get an interesting range of topics, & I learn something new every day, Without someone shutting us down for being Off Topic Back to lurking in my copy of Henry ford Trade School book Brilliant.

Thats why its called "members hangout" (off topic discussions):cocksure:. Always something to learn.
Keep your cat happy brother.

Good read, thanks. Evolution is alive and well among the crock world. I suppose eventually the fresh water crocks will catch up too. Not the first time human intervention has mucked things up.

Giela monsters were easy to find in Tucson back in the 80's they were up there with poisonous critters don't know about nowadays.
I'm sure I spelled that wrong,

I do not know if any of our readers remember seeing the old black & white film starring Humphrey Bogart, called The Treasures of SierraMadre in which was a hidded hazhard down the hole the gold was hidden, In the presence of a gilla monster, Bogart was a typical Anti Hero, brilliant

Gila monsters are not as common these days, so when you see one its a treat.

We had a 4' diamond back rattle snake on our firehouse apron last night (second rattler this month). Sorry not picture this time as I normally don't carry my phone on calls. Any way, we moved it back to the desert (other side of fence). Station 17 is on the fringe of the city limits to the east. No neighborhoods or businesses close by, hence the crazy visitors.

I vaguely recall that old classic.
I did have the opportunity to take a train ride though the Sierra Madre (Barrancas de Cobre aka Copper Canyon) twice. Its four times the size of our Grand Canyon and over 1000 ft deeper. I was the " trains medic" for 25-30 couples on vacation. The train cars where restored Pullman's from the 40's. The dining cars had that cool bubble observation deck.
The locomotive (engine) was modern and leased from the Mexican government complete with 4 armed solders to deter the "banditos". I had a SAT phone and a decent choice of pharmaceuticals. No advance cardiac equipment other than an old monitor that could pace and defibrillate. Like I said, I did it twice and it was amazing, but some of these rich old folks made me very nervous as we where far from any real advanced medical facility. The SAT phone was for requesting a helo, but the red tape to get an American chopper deep into Mexican territory, well you'll die waiting. They (Tauck Tours) discontinued this service after medical problems and bandits (shots fired) tried storming the train. All in all, It was amazing and some of the folks I met where equally amazing (authors, generals, surgeons even had an astronaut). Their wives where another story..... They would summon me to get them a drink or a pill and I would remind them I wasn't a waiter or a "Pusher", politely of course.
