Quick change collet

I read or saw in a video that ER collet nuts are available with and without the locking mechanism.

I have an ER32 set for my wood lathe, this does have a locking washer on the inside of the nut. Note the locking mechanism is an eccentric machined integral part of this nut. The collet needs to be inserted at an angle to engage the lock, same to remove.

I saw the above post stating your collets may not be ER, but they have a similar slot for a lock mechanism.

In my ER collets, when the collet is locked the top of the collet is close to flush with the top of the nut.

They are not ER collets.
I stand corrected, those are not ERs. When one examines the taper more closely in the photo, it not as pronounced as an ER.

Out of curiosity I made a quick call to Grizzly and asked. They said they are not ERs. I asked if it was some other standard they said no. They were unique. So Aukai, based on my call you have something a bit unique there and will be buying any additional ones from Grizzly only.

Not holding one in my hand but I am betting they do have the partial ring clip in the nut like an ER. So you will likely need to slip the collet in the nut first and then screw it onto the holder.

Alan, thank you very much for all of the effort, and the rest for being such a big help.

So Grizzly said they were unique and there was no standard, I am astounded!

Well, not really.

Thank you for the links.....

On the other hand, the T26688 R8 collet set is ER-40 as my set has ER-40 engraved on the front lip of the collet.

I checked my R 8 holder, and, with just the right angle, and some pressure viola, the collet snaps in.
