Hi all,

I just acquired a Super 55 Index mill. I'm fairly proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, so I'm remaking the sticker on the belt guard. The problem is that it is too faded to decipher some of the wording. If anybody could provide some feedback I would greatly appreciate it.
This is the sticker I'm talking about:
I know it says, " Spindle should not require _????_ life of the bearings _?????_ _?????_ conditions"
My guess is that it says, "Spindle should not require lubrication for the life of the bearings except under extreme conditions".

I can't help you with the wording on your sticker, but I am curious about what you will use to create the new sticker. Do you inkjet print onto vinyl? I have a 3D printer and plan on making a new front badge for the pulley guard on my 660. My original badge is completely gone, so I don't know what it was. I know that something was once there because of the adhesive residue left behind. I figured that I would just make an "INDEX" badge.

I hope you share some info and photos of this project. you could start a new thread in the 3d printer forum.

Thanks

Hi all,

Here is a pic of the final.

I think the "Machine and Tool Company" text might be a tad tight. The black stroke was set to the lowest setting, so I could not tighten it up further. I overlayed it onto the original badge and it aligns very close. Of course, the original reference has a slight curvature to it and I'm sure that might be playing into the equation. For etching purposes, I will probably turn off the black stroke to make the weeding process easier.

I've created a shared folder here with the files if you care to tweak it or modify them to suit your taste. I'm sticking a fork in this little badge and calling it done.

The low tech version of printing but still effective is sending the file to my sister who will print it on her little Cricut machine. Then I was planning on doing this as a real brass badge with etching. But, that's alot of tiny text to weed out of the sticker. I have a 3d printer I built from scratch, it's a dinosaur by today's standards and I was never quite pleased with tiny text details.

This is a video back when I made a knife, it shows the etching I did with a Cricut cut sticker if you're curious about the type of results that can be had from such a cheap machine. I built a dedicated etcher then and it has worked very well for small etching. Of course, I could just etch the board like a circuit board. Go to minute 7:34 to see the sticker and process.
