I'm very new to lathes and bought this one. There are no labels on this one, but the previous owner thinks it's an American Machine and Tool, model 47-A. It has a 48" bed. The motor he had on it was a Craftsman M1 50, 1/2 HP ,8.2 amp. This motor died an I bought it without a motor.
I'd like to identify this unit as well as it's age so I can get some of the missing pieces.
I need:
1. Motor
2. Cutters
3 .Tail piece
4. Drill chuck
5. Operators manual

Appreciate any help on this.
Thanks
Ron

Kinda looks Craftsman as in the sac ca. CL add I just posted , or Logan

I don't think it's an AMT lathe , but agree it looks like an atlas or logan. Which model with no numbers or plates . Since it had a craftsmen motor I say it's atlas .

It looks like it could be kind of rare- is there a nameplate on it? More pictures would be nice
Too bad you left the motor behind we probably could have helped you fix it, might have gotten it cheap or thrown in the deal

I don't know what it is but I'm petty sure it is not Logan or Atlas (Craftsman). The oval base feet make me think something other than USA made.

The motor is simple just buy a 56 frame motor SF 1.15 I would use 3/4HP motor on this size of Lathe.
The tooling drill Chuck and cutter try www.shars.com.
The manual see Yahoo group it is just a down load for free. Some may parts you need too.

The previous owner had replaced the motor long before I arrived to buy the lathe. He kept the new motor for the lathe he replaced this one
