My new toy has arrived at last! Originally, I had ordered a PM25. Then, I decided that I wanted something a little bigger, and changed my order to a PM30. Then I decided that I didn't want to wait on the PM30, so I went with this one instead... I think I'll be glad I did in the long run, I can't ever recall a time in the past that I said "I wish I had bought a smaller tool". Service from PM so far has been great, on both this and my 1130 lathe, Even though I am a bit of a pain as a customer sometimes- Especially when it comes to changing my mind so many times :)

They shipped it out on a Thursday and it was at the local terminal by Saturday morning... I was supposed to have liftgate delivery, but the local terminal doesn't have a truck equipped with a lifgate, so they told me I'd have to wait until at least the end of the week when they had enough deliveries to justify renting a liftgate equipped truck for the day. I was tired of waiting, so I drove an hour to the terminal, had them load it into my truck, and brought it home myself!

The suspension wasn't QUITE bottomed out, but not far from it... 1200 lbs in the back is a pretty hefty load.

I got it back to the shop, and out of the truck. Fortunately I have an a-frame in my shop, and I could uncrate the mill and lift it out of the truck that way- This thing is HEAVY.

I was a little surprised by how big it was- My last mill was a little Harbor Freight special, and this would eat that thing for breakfast... It was larger than I had expected. I got it unloaded and on to the stand, despite the temps in the high 90s. I went through the setup/startup instructions, and made a quick test cut tonight.

I am impressed by this machine already. It's BIG- and HEAVY, especially with the cast iron base. It all seems very solid. It is VERY smooth, and surprisingly quiet, when running. I am really looking forward to getting some projects done!

Congrats on the new mill. Wow, #1200 it is heavy for its size. I’m sure it will serve you well. Any plans for a DRO?

Yeah, it's a beast. I think it's around 1100 lbs total with stand. The stand alone weighs almost as much as the PM25 that I had ordered initially!

I will be putting a DRO on in the near future. I plan to use a bluDRO, along with the TouchDRO app... I've bought all the components to use it on my lathe already, and like it a lot.

I have given thought to the TouchDRO setup for my lathe, glad to hear it works well for you.
