I recently made a rest for my grinder,but I like you idea better and will make mine the same in the near future. Thanks for the Idea westerner.To complete the story- In addition to getting the stone to run reasonably true, I built a rest that befits this fine machine. I agree with that. I don't know why the manufacturers can't devise better paterns for the grinders.Good job. Some of the tool rests that come on these grinders are so darn flimsy they are a joke.
Sorry, no prints. Built quite "on the fly". It is a 6" grinder, and the only thing I was concerned with was that I could get the rest to 'horizontal and tangent' to a stone that was nearly wore out, while making sure the vertical member remained leaning OUT away from the stone.Do you perhaps have any drawings/measurements for you rest and what is your grinder size? Don't feel obligated to give any of it if you don't want to.
