Very unique Andre Bechler pinion cutting machine

you made a nice sturdy stand for your machine, and are pretty brave to dissemble it---a lot of precise mechanisms---I guess it is a good way to really understand each operation and get them clean and freshly lubricated-----Dave

With the help of a manual it would be much easier understand how to adjust the machine...

Hi Dave, Patrick, others,
Another amateur horologist has succumbed to the attraction of this ridiculously complicated machine. A Belcher pinion machine was at a local auction and a friend and I bought it for an embarrassingly low price. The photos were of course terrible and I haven't seen it in person yet, so I'm not sure what is missing. At the very least I'll need to make indexing plates plus hours of disassembling and cleaning.
If anybody has a manual they could send me electronically or via mail, I would be very appreciative and would happy reimburse somebody for their efforts.
Thank you very much in advance,
Andrew

I would have been unable to resist that beauty either!

Yeah, I'm thinking thinking a manual would definitely be the place to start. Kinda makes your head spin just looking at it, though I'm sure it does what it was designed to do very well. Like Jim said, would love to see it in action. Mike

If someone can get or does get an electronic copy of the manual, we should upload it to this thread, or to the "downloads" section with a link from here. It seems there is enough demand for it that it would be very useful.

Andrew,
My machine was traded to member Ken Thompson from Alabama a couple years ago for a very well equipped jewelers lathe.

Thank you Dave. I'll try to get in touch with Ken.

I have the machine now and it's amazing how much grime was removed in the first 2 hours, but I haven't touched anything mechanical yet. The Swiss paint job is in surprisingly good shape.

There is an arbor in the machine, but it's a straight shaft held in with a taper and fixing screw. There is no obvious way to attach a cuter to the arbor. If anybody has used one I'm assuming I'm missing a part unless the cutters are held with set screws like a pulley.

Best, Andrew
