I'm mostly interested in being able to machine some of my own parts for my hobby rocketry projects. These projects include graphite nozzles, 6061-T6 aluminum tubing, etc. Don't own a lathe or mill, yet, so will also be looking for mentoring on how to find and get my equipment together.

Machining sounds like it's right up my alley: Creative, nerdy, technical and lots of fun! (My other hobbies include amateur radio, homebrewing, etc. I've made my own beer, radio equipment, rocket propellant, cheese, etc. I think Robert Heinlein said it best:
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an
invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write
a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort
the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve
equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a
computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.
Specialization is for insects.
