John Deere F935 rebuild

Looking good Greg. Keep the updates coming. :encourage:

Things seemed to progress and I forgot to take photo's.
Had to remove a few parts that should have went on after another part, but generally went well. Still need to paint the wheels and roof panel.
I spent the best part of a day hammering the hood back into shape and making a brace at the grill to hold a crown in the top. Then a little Bondo to smooth things out. Far from vintage car quality but it is a tractor.
The engine was another story. I thought we had it running pretty good. Thought. Pulled it out to sand blast, set it on the floor, and put it back in. No way I could get that little SOB to fire. Tried all the tricks I used the first time to get it going and could bearly get it to sputter. Pulled the injectors and connected them to the lines, nice spray pattern but no fire. Tried using a hot air gun to feed the intake, nothing. Then noticed the block heater, hum, plugged it in and let it sit for an hour or more. The block was hot, still wouldn't run. While it was still hot I pulled the glow plugs and fed my ATF / Acetone mix into the holes and let it sit overnight. Next morning plugged it in again to warm it up and put the glow plugs back in. Thought I may as well give it a shot. The little bugger fired up instantly and purred like a kitten as if it had been running all along. Now it fires up in an instant.
The only thing I can think was the rings stuck and the ATF / acetone worked on the warm engine, I'd already soaked it cold a few times. Spent two days trying to get it running again.
Added some Sea Foam to the fuel and crank case to hopefully clean things up. Ran it today for another hour or more. Its useless in the snow. Chains are going to be a must if it has any hope of pushing a snow blower. Without an attachment all the weight, (engine and counter weights) are on the rear idler wheels.
Saddie isn't too impressed, not fast enough for her.

A couple more small things to do then will probably start building the blower for it.

That looks great Greg, gonna come in handy when the snow melts. Saddie took command of the Deere! Beautiful GSD, I have a soft heart for that breed. Had seven of them in my adult life including the four we currently are enslaved to hahah.
Excellent build.

Thanks Paco. They're an interesting breed, not sure I could handle 4 at a time. lol I'd never make it to the shop. She usually has a hand or my foot in her mouth. Sticks like Velcro, spent yesterday afternoon riding on the back of the snowmobile. Doesn't matter if its truck, tractor, atv, or snowmobile, it isn't leaving the yard without her.

Wish I could get my German Shepherd in the shop. He will spend a few minutes, then slinks away. I never force him in or out of the shop.
Great build as usual Greg.

She spends most of the day outside unless its really cold or hot, then wants in for creature comforts. If someone she doesn't know comes along she'll follow them into the shop then never leave till they do.
If Im still in the shop at dark she wants in then.

that really is a beautiful dog!

great job on the rebuild, looks like new :)

I started building a snow blower of the lawn mower.
Back in post 6 we have the donor blower, Im reusing the gear drive and auger flighting. To widen the auger I needed to lengthen the main shaft. All the collars that held the flighting were seized solid so the flighting was cut from them then the shaft cut either side of the gear box. Made a new shaft and the pipe sections that are to be shear pin driven from it.

Had an old furnace oil tank that looked like a candidate for the housing. Its an odd guage, between 13 and 14.

Opened it up with a zip cut and sawzall. Figured I just had to remove what didn't look like a snow blower.
Cut the ends out on the plasma table, then wrapped the curved section around them.

Now have to cut the opening for the blower housing to slip in the back.
