Sherline DRO question for you Sherline guys

Hey Chip, is that a 3ph Baldor motor there? I bet you have no issues with power!
No it's a permanent magnet d.c. 1/2 hp. I really don't have much trouble with lack of power. I realize it's a little over kill but that's what I had, along with the variable speed motor controller. I commandeered a Lock n Lock from the wife and now I have a NEMA 4X enclosure to house it. Behind the motor you can see a grey box that contains the controls for the variable speed power feed. That's the little grey 24VDC motor.

The Taig lathe is (can be) a bit of a kit machine where one can modify and add things. I've made countless knobs, brackets, etc. to this machine. Some say they want the finished product right out of the box, and I certainly get that. You can use the Taig right out of the box (assuming you bought a motor) but for me this is a hobby, so tinkering with the thing is kinda what it's about anyway. And every little knurled knob that has just the right finish makes me love her all the more :)
