Resolved Picture attachments smaller than expected

For some reason when I upload an image its shrunk (a lot) and can't be zoomed in. This happens with uploads from both my PC and from iPhone.
Am I doing something wrong?

Example:
The pic I attached here is 4032 x 3024 on my PC.
Uploaded version is 600 x 450

Apparently, it has been that way for some time. The oldest photo that I can find in the Media Gallery is dated mid-2016 and is 450 x 600. So the uploader must be set to limit the resolution to that.
