Well, the old bearings in my vertical head need to be replaced, and I have them on order. The head is packed with old grease. Which doesn’t do anything to help the bearings, as they are sealed. And doesn’t appear to actually reach the helical gear that drives the collet spindle.

Wondering if I should repack the head with lubriplate, or run the gears in an mineral oil bath? Any suggestions?

Thanks
Glenn

I vote for grease Glenn
- oil would likely dribble out all over your machine
