I picked up the dividing head gear set, it came with 11 gears, and to the best of my knowledge, it looks like I have them all.

In the box,
2 - 24 tooth, everything thing else was a single gear. 28, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 86, and 100.

Does this seem right? I have everyone listed in the table, so I think I have everything.

Just need to gearbox, or plans to make on.

I think the gearset is complete. Generally, a gearbox is not used, the gears being held on the table screw shaft, the dividing head input shaft, and a bracket that holds two gears alongside each other and has a slotted part that is held to the table or dividing head by a single bolt, and there are generally 4 gears used in the train at any time, except possibly an idler to reverse direction of the spiral. The idler would likely have 24 teeth, and be permanently installed on its bracket.
These gears are used for cutting spirals and also for differential indexing to divide prime numbers. It looks like, with the gears that you call out, the tables published by Brown & Sharpe in "A Practical Treatise on Milling and Milling Machines" would tell you all that you need to know; I'm told that it is available on line.

Here’s a link to VN’s accessory catalog, looks like 11 gears is correct. Horizontal head w/ 11 gears is on page 4.

Edit: there’s also a diagram showing the bracket used to hold the gears in a train - should be a good starting point for a design!

The Brown & Sharpe set also includes a 44 tooth gear. I am only just learning the B&S setup, but, my mill is a Van Norman, so my interest here is also peaked. Still looking, I have yet to find the correct tooth count for the individual 11 gears in the set from VN. Glad to see you found Keith Rucker's Vintage Machinery & glad to see another publication that I was not aware of as well!

My apologies, I was already quoting from that same publication. 1954 I think. Lots to learn on my part.
