Gear stripped

One idea I have been thinking about trying would replace the whole hand driven gear mechanism:

I envision a DPDT switch mounted near the table lock. The actuator would connect to the underside of the table and extend to the base or a column bracket. 12v power supplies are cheap. This would be really slick and convenient.

Might work Robert. I am using a hydraulic bottle jack right now to raise the table. :)

You can locate something that fits inside the column that heavy...pipe filled with lead...

Place pulley at top and small cable/wire rope between table and heavy thing results are table is counter weighted by heavy thing allowing one to move it with minimal effort.

I can't really see what's damaged from the pictures provided.
It looks like a crank turns a pinion which meshes with a spur/bevel gear combination which drives a bevel gear.

I think I see teeth missing on the spur gear but can't determine the condition of the other three from the photos.

What needs to be replaced?

If only the spur gear is damaged, perhaps yo can machine off the damage and graft on a new commercial replacement.

EDIT: I downloaded the 4 photos to a photo manipulation program on my computer and still could not make heads or tails of them. Photo Tip:
Clean the parts first, place on a contrasting, solid color background (are you into camouflage? :( ). An overview is a good idea but provide some closeups of the details that you want advice on.
I will do that today and get back with you. THANKS. Tom

My combination gear is trash. It also looks like the lift screw is bent. Not sure how this happened other than me trying to make it move the table with more force than needed :( It looks as the other gear is good as shown in picture. Thanks. Tom

Wow how did they get an electrical outlet in a concrete block wall- that's a neat trick

Not sure. My dad built this shop in 1961. There is also a 220 -3- phase outlet flush mounted in concrete that I plug the drill press in.

Got it going the old fashion way. Tightened the the two 5/8th nuts together and now all I do is use the ratchet :) Maybe a combination gear will shop up on ebay later. Works like a dream. Tom
