HF 20 Ton Fixes & Mods

Yep you nailed it. They had both at the store when I got mine and I picked the first one with the 3 packages, full welded construction.

Was the welded one orange or Grey/silver?

The previous, orange, version was welded with the cast iron arbor plate shaped things. The current Grey/silver bolt together press has steel arbor plates.

If H/F is coming out with a new welded version I'd be interested in taking a look at it.

The two SKU's 32879 and 60603 are now both painted grey/silver. I have the SKU 60603, a local machinist friend has the SKU 32879. Both are the same colour paint.

I mentioned above

SKU 32879 is a one piece welded frame. Header and vertical channels are welded. This comes in 3 packages, marked 1 of 3 etc.

SKU 60603 is different design. The header assembly bolts to the vertical channels, but there is a large gap. I had to use large washers to fill the gap. This comes in 2 packages marked 1 of 2 etc.

Thank you for the info. My local H/F only has the #60603 on display and all the info references that single SKU last time I looked, and picked it up. Mine went together well enough. but if I had known the welded version was going to be returning I probably would have waited on the purchase

Thanks for the ideas. I have the 20 ton with the welded frame. The press support structure is a project in the planning.
I love the brake press. Two machines in one

I just recently purchased that Swag Off Road finger break. LOVE IT. I did some nice curved bends by just throwing multiple levels of descending size 90's in it. I did put some nice 4" locking casters on my press as well and took the slip out of the top ram. That thing is so handy now. ...pressing bearings in, taking out old u joints and now bending steel!
