Delrin Bushing Source?

I've found Delrin/acetal to be a nice machining material. I suggest using HSS cutting tools with a fairly positive rake on top/side so there is a sharp cutting edge. The shavings can be quite stringy, but other than that, it cuts like butter and size is easy to hit. I use a pair of side cutters to cut the shavings up if needed, but you could also use your jack knife or something else.

YMMV,

I will 2nd TT. Add, if possible set up a shop vac to suck the string away.

Guys I have a reeves drive system on my lathe and the relain bushing on middle pulley disk(?) is wore out.Does anyone know of a source for these bushing which I’m prepared to machine if needed. But don’t know a source? Thanks

Bit a of a guess here, but is your lathe a clausing? If so, they still stock/have made many parts to support their older machines. A little while ago I bought a pair of new delrin bushings for my 5914. Was $12 or so a piece, well worth the price, particularly given they aren't just a simple sleeve.

It’s Rockwell 25-100,thanks for tips on tooling.I did look over on hobby kits but looks like largest they have is 1”.I had to google Acetal,is it same as delrin?Seems like the acetal is little cheaper

I forgot to mention for single piece of stock like this eBay can be a great source as well. I picked up a nice piece of 2" diameter solid 360 brass a foot long a few months ago at a good price and shipping was included. Just make sure you know the prices at other places first so you know a fair/good deal when you see it. Some guys ask crazy prices on eBay and other are very reasonable.

Delrin is the trade name Acetal is the plastic.

IGUS makes all sorts of bushings out of engineered polymers with integral lubrication.

Yes I use eBay for odd stock. The best part is you don’t get hosed to bad on shipping. Some of the material sites shipping is terrible

Yes it is the Delrin is a trade name by DuPont. We all call all Acetal Delrin. I have lots of scraps but nothing large enough to help the OP out
